The short version
- This site doesn't set tracking cookies and doesn't sell or rent your information to anyone.
- If you send an event or a note, I keep what you sent so I can review it and get back to you.
- The companies that run the plumbing (Cloudflare and Google) see some technical details, like any website would.
Just reading the site
Pedal & Pause is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare's servers see your IP address, your browser type and which pages you asked for, and it keeps short-term logs for security and to keep the site running.
The site may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or follow you to other websites. It tells me things like how many people read a trail guide and roughly what country they came from, not who you are.
The typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them, and Google sees your IP address when it does.
Submitting an event
When you use the Submit an event form, I store what you type, including your name and email, so I can check the details before anything goes on the calendar. It's stored in a private Cloudflare database only I can read. The event itself may be published if I approve it. Your email address won't be.
Writing to me
If you email me, I'll have your email address and whatever you wrote. I use it to answer you, and I won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be on one.
Links to other sites
Trail guides and event listings link to park services, organizers, restaurants and maps. Once you follow a link, you're on their site and under their privacy rules, not mine.
Changes and requests
If what this site collects changes, for example if I add an email newsletter, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. If you'd like something you sent me deleted, ask and I'll delete it.
